Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.) campaigned in San Diego on Memorial Day as he remains the closest threat to President Joe Biden in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Hundreds of people flocked to the Humphrey’s by the Bay in the Circle City to watch the Democratic presidential candidate. The founder and general counsel of the Children’s Health Defense (CHD) paid respect to members of the military killed in action by quoting his uncle, former President John F. Kennedy.
“The most important way for us to honor the men and women who gave their lives for this country is to protect the rights that they died to give us,” the younger Kennedy said. He then switched gears and discussed how the corporate mainstream media (MSM) has been treating his campaign.
In one poll for potential Democratic presidential candidates, 40 percent of voters say they intend to vote for Biden in the primary. RFK Jr. is the nearest challenger at 20 percent, but for some reason his name has been excluded in the poll.
“They still treat me as a fringe candidate, and they say ‘He doesn’t have a chance.’ They don’t even put me in the polls a lot of times,” the Democratic presidential candidate told the audience. “I’m way ahead of DeSantis; my numbers are much better than his, but he’s treated as a legitimate candidate.”
RFK Jr. ultimately remarked: “That’s OK. They don’t have to treat me different. All we have to do is win the election.”
Despite the differences between RFK Jr. and DeSantis, both appear to have a shared dislike of medical tyranny that was seen during the height of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. During a May 9 interview with actor Russell Brand, RFK Jr. recounted that the Florida governor invited him to breakfast during the pandemic. DeSantis expressed his intent to “burn” the National Institutes of Health (NIH) “to the ground” during that meeting.
RFK Jr. shared: “We talked about him possibly running for the presidency. I said: “How will you handle the NIH?’ And he said: ‘I’ll burn it to the ground.'” (Related: Gov. DeSantis: Big Pharma will pay for deceiving the public with false advertising about COVID-19 vaccines.)
During his campaign event, Kennedy expressed concern that Americans are in danger of losing some of those rights that are guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution. He also decried the current iteration of the Democratic Party, which is far from the party his father and his uncle stood for.
“I feel like I am losing my country. I feel like my party has gone off the rails,” RFK Jr. lamented.
“It’s become the party of war, and the Democratic Party was always skeptical about war. It’s become the party of censorship, which is antithetical to the definition and tradition of liberalism.”
He also blasted the COVID-19 lockdown, something that has been on his crosshairs during his time at CHD. “The COVID-19 lockdown – what [the Democratic Party] supported – was a war on the poor [and] a war on minorities. This country really suffered deeply during that period,” he said.
While the lockdowns are over, RFK Jr. believes there is still a cause for concern. He warned: “They have not given up the power to impose those in the future, and we have now created in this country this very, very troubling precedent.”
The Democratic presidential candidate and environmental lawyer stressed the need to focus on the country’s middle class which, according to him, is “drowning in debt.” He remarked: “We need to buttress the middle class and stop sending money abroad for wars.”
RFK Jr. also slammed the Biden administration for “spending money that we don’t have.”
“We’re like an alcoholic who is behind on his mortgage and has taken the milk money to buy rounds for everybody, [even] strangers at the bar,” he said. “We don’t have the money.”
He ultimately promised that if elected, he will be “the best environmental president in history” with his platform of “preserving habitats, [promoting] regenerative agriculture [and] stopping water pollution. RFK Jr. emphasized: “We need to preserve something for our children.”
